Prabal Gurung Violet Dagger & Seductive Reality

The designer’s collection transformed from flirty into a dagger of seductive reality before coming full circle with immaculately detailed tulle accented silk gowns. The garments encompassed the empowering effect of romance, whether that be with another person or your wardrobe.

the designer continues to appeal to all types of women and his popularity is getting to be as big as Nicki Minaj’s hair –literally. The singer paraded into Gurung’s NYFW show today with paparazzi swarming around her. Trailing behind and making a much more delicate entrance was actress Amanda Seyfried, who was seated close to Minaj. It takes imagination and a unique comprehension of a woman’s body to appeal to both of these celebrities, which Gurung has, not to mention the designer has dressed everyone fromMichelle Obama to Zoe Saldana.

Luca Luca Spring 2012: Sensual & Feminine Sportswear

Luca Luca S/S 2012 was the quintessential ready-to-wear sportswear collection from the silhouettes to the monochrome brights and vibrant prints. The collection’s color palate was enthralling for me from beginning to end, as the complementary mix of neons, pastels, and jewel tones electrified the runway. Turquoise, beaming lime green, yves klein blue, and rich whites were the stand out hues.

Aside from a little excess drapery on a few of the designs, the 40s style inspired silhouettes created a feminine sporty-chic look, tailored to perfection, which was a perfect matrimony between sexy and classic. The clever use of draped silk, chiffon, charmeuse, and garbadine allowed for the designs to adorn the models in a effortless manner.

Lela Rose 'A Neon World' 2012 Collection

Prior to the commencement of today’s Lela Rose show, the room dimmed and John Lennon’s “Imagine” played for the crowd. In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of September 11th, Rose made a donation in each attendee’s honor to Action America to benefit the 9/11 Memorial and Wounded Warrior Project. And it didn’t take long for “Imagine” to turn into a sing-a-long before the house lights went bright and “Pumped Up Kicks” switched the show’s ignition into high gear.

Monqiue Lhuillier 2012 Collection

The normally whimsical and romantic Monique Lhuiller ran down an aerobic avenue for her spring 2012 collection. No need for your jogging shoes, because stiletto’s were the shoe of choice for her show. With a sporty and physically fit woman in mind, Lhuillier opted for an edgy approach to gowns with bold color blocking and leather accents. The pieces were meant to compliment a women’s physique and outline her body.
